I’m always surprised/ disappointed at US-Americans’ lack of ability to pronounce names… they just add and remove letters and make it far more complex than it has to be. My last name is Cavalcanti and I stubbornly keep it professionally even though it’s been suggested I change it— no one gets it right until I explain it! But I keep it because it’s a recognizably Brazilian name, so I understand the cultural ties factor too.
